In recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month during the entire month of April Chaffee County DHS and FYI will be participating in a number of community events:
| April 2nd | Lighting of S Mountain with a blue ribbon (the symbol for Child Abuse Prevention Awareness) |
| April 5th | Local Kick Off to include BBQ, pinwheel garden planting, and wear blue day in Salida and BV. Location: Scout Hut pending availability |
| April 10th | Salida Kick Off to Summer – Child Abuse Prevention Committee will sponsor a booth |
| Sunday April 7th | Monarch Mountain Tailgate- Child Abuse Prevention Committee will sponsor a table and be making chili |
| April 13th | Family Festival Table |
